High energy consumption may be a thing of the past for crypto miners with Baidu’s new blockchain protocol. China’s internet giant announced this new ‘Super Chain’ blockchain protocol as its next big step in blockchain integration.

The company’s Blockchain Chief Scientist Xiao Wei had unveiled the blockchain protocol during a local conference.

Wei explained that this protocol is compatible with bitcoin’s and ethereum’s “development system”. Super Chain is expected to be a groundbreaking innovation for crypto miners as Wei says that it can “insert and remove consensus mechanisms to solve the current energy consumption problem”.

Bitcoin and other crypto mining activities have been heavily criticized for the large amounts of energy consumption that come with them. This has even led to some crypto mining company bans in some parts of the world.

If the Super Chain does what it claims it could do, it could revolutionize crypto mining around the world.
