Ashton Kutcher is well known for starring in numerous sitcoms and movies but the actor is also a well-known philanthropist and tech investor.
Kutcher has shown these when he made a surprise appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show with hus business partner Guy Oseary and donated $4 million in XRP tokens to the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
Kutcher surprised DeGeneres with the donation, noting that they did not bring a big bulky check and instead explained that with Ripple, they can send the amount right away, with the push of a button:
“We can actually transfer it into Rwandan francs right now, right here, and all we have to do is push this button and it’s in your account.”
He offered DeGeneres the honor to push the button. When she did, the payment was sent instantly.
It is no secret that Kutcher has always been interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain tech. Aside from his investment in Ripple—home of XRP, the third-largest cryptocurrency according to CoinMarketCap—he has also invested in bitcoin payment service provider BitPay.
